We define performance as speed, reliability, and weather resistance. Compared to inflatables, UniFold depolys faster, does not need power or a compressed air bottle, and cannot be rendered unusable by knives, burning embers, or lack of power. When compared to articulating frame shelters, UniFold's 'folds' are resilient and can withstand being physically deformed if hit by a truck and even if run over. The folds can be corrected with a few pulls and pushes and it's back in service. Compared to any other rapid deployment shelter, UniFold sets the standard for wind resistance due to the integrated floor.
Only UniFold deploys as an enclosure with roof, walls and floor creating a gable roofed box. This ensures wind will not get under the shelter to create lift that would otherwise blow a tent, like an inflatable or an articulating frame, away. UniFold has even proven resistance to helicopter rotor wash next to other shelter types that have blown away.
UniFold's exoskeleton structure is formed from twin wall polypropylene fluted board. Polypropylene has living hingability and is not fatigued by folding, even thousands of times. Our shelters can be deployed and resused hundreds of times with little deterioration of performance. This is due to the combination of no parts to lose and the resilience of the polypropylene construction.
